چکیده

room temperature. In plain broth there was surface growth, indicated by a whitish ring in contact with the glass, and a viscid sediment, partially disintegrating on shaking. In gelatine stab, growth occurred without liquefaction. Fermentation and biochemical reactions were as follows : No change in glucose, maltose, lactose, sucrose, mannitol or salicin. M.R. and V.P. reactions negative; no reduction of nitrate and no indol production. There was production of ILS and ammonia; litmus milk was rendered alkaline.

Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery Using Biosurfactant Produced by Alcaligenes faecalis

A bacterial strain (designated as Alcaligenes sp. MS-103) isolated from oil sample of the Aghajari oilfield in the south of Iran, was able to produce an effective extracellular lipopolysaccharide biosurfactant (1.2±0.05 g/l) on molasses as a sole carbon source. The highest surface tension reduction to level 20 mN/m was achieved by biosurfactant produced by cells grown on molasses under optimum ...

Degradation of Hydrocarbons and Lignin-like compounds by Alcaligenes sp. strain 3k isolated from Ilorin

The primary goal of this study was to isolate hydrocarbon-degrading organisms and assess their ability to bioremediate petroleum-contaminated soil and water. Nigeria is one of the major oil producing countries and petroleum contamination is widespread in agricultural soil. Alcaligenes sp. strain 3k was isolated from a kerosene-polluted soil in Ilorin, Nigeria. We also assessed its ability to de...

Green extracellular synthesis of the Fe2O3 nanoparticles by a native marine bacterium, Alcaligenes sp. strain NV06

This study investigated the potential of aquatic bacteria for their ability as a biocatalyst to synthesized Fe2O3 nanoparticles using iron precursor, FeCl3. A total of 25 aquatic bacterial strains were isolated in trypticase soy agar plus 10 mM FeCl3 with selective enrichment technique. Among the bacterial strains evaluated, NV06 was the only strain able to synthesize Fe2O3 nanoparticles extrac...
